Swap oil or gas for a heat pump, hybrid or pellet system – with a fixed price and honest funding advice.
A boiler from the nineties still works – but it burns 20 to 40 percent more fuel than necessary, the CO₂ price makes every litre and every cubic metre more expensive year by year, and spare parts are getting scarce. Replacing it is a decision with numbers behind it. We give you those numbers for your house, honestly, including the case where gas is still the right choice.
Lowest running costs, 30–80% subsidy, suitable for most existing houses. Details on our heat-pump page.
The heat pump covers 70–80% of demand, gas steps in on the coldest days. Good for poorly insulated houses.
CO₂-neutral and funded, but needs a storage room and more maintenance.
Lowest investment, installed in a day – but no BEG funding and permitted only with a growing share of renewable gases.
We calculate for your building which system pays off most over 20 years – investment, funding, running costs and CO₂ price included. Our economics calculator gives a first impression.
As of October 2026 · BEG, KfW programme 458 · Rates change regularly – we check them before every quote.
Since the BEG reform of 21 July 2026 (KfW 458): 30% basic subsidy, 16% climate-speed bonus for replacing a working oil or gas heating (owner-occupiers, applications until 31 January 2027, then decreasing) and a staggered income bonus of 40, 30 or 10% for taxable household incomes up to €30,000, €40,000 or €50,000. The maximum is 80% of eligible costs of up to €28,000. The old efficiency bonus and the flat 70% cap no longer exist.
Good to know: the funding application must be submitted before the work starts; a contract can be concluded subject to funding approval. We are happy to discuss which components apply to you.
Since 2024 new heating systems in new development areas must run on at least 65% renewable energy; for existing buildings the deadline depends on the municipal heat plan – in Giessen and the surrounding towns these are being drawn up now. Boilers older than 30 years may be subject to a replacement obligation (§ 72 GEG). We check whether your system is affected and which deadlines apply.
Building data, consumption, insulation, radiators, chimney, electricity – we take in everything that influences the choice of system.
We compare the systems over 20 years and recommend the most economical one – with a fixed price and, on request, an estimate of the funding.
You submit the application in the KfW portal – we advise you and provide the technical details. Tip: the contract can be concluded subject to funding approval.
Professional removal and disposal of the old system, installation of the new one by our own fitters. Gas-to-gas 1–2 days, heat pump 3–5 days.
Hydraulic balancing, function test, instruction and handover of all documents – including those for the funding payout.
Settle these four questions before you accept any quote. Here are our honest answers – without naming other companies.
Mainly three kinds of providers: the local master-certified heating contractor, online providers and manufacturer partners. Energy consultants help with planning but do not install.
Depending on the system: gas condensing boiler from €8,000, pellet boiler from €20,000, hybrid system €22,000 to €30,000, air-to-water heat pump €25,000 to €35,000 – each before funding.
Heat pumps and pellet boilers receive 30 to 80% funding, the hybrid system for its heat-pump share; a pure gas boiler receives none (as of October 2026).
On five points:
Three warning signs:
From 15 years it is worth looking at the economics, from 20 years replacement usually pays off – especially with funding. From 30 years a legal replacement obligation may apply.
Depending on the starting point 20–40% of energy costs; switching from oil to a heat pump often saves up to 50%. We calculate the saving for your house individually.
Gas condensing from approx. €8,000, air-to-water heat pump approx. €25,000–35,000, pellet boiler from approx. €20,000 – all before funding. With 30 to 80% BEG funding the own share for a heat pump often ends up below that of a new gas boiler.
Oil boilers older than 30 years may be subject to a replacement obligation (§ 72 GEG). Otherwise the municipal heat plan sets the deadline. We check your situation free of charge.
For a standard replacement the interruption is 1–2 days. During the heating season we provide mobile heaters if needed.
Yes, professional removal and disposal of the old system are included in our quote – including waste oil, refrigerants and, on request, the oil tank.
